Welcome
A village pub for all occasions in Wrotham
Originally located on the Pilgrims’ Way (the path to Canterbury from Hampshire), the Moat is a perfect example of a classic, traditional English country pub. At its heart is a 14th Century converted barn with its own private bar area, perfect for celebrations.
When Hall & Woodhouse originally refurbished the pub the new oak floorboards were continually warping. Further investigation found that the pub was built over an underground stream and the floorboards were subsequently replaced with flagstones, which may have been the source of the pub name.
A great place to stop off on your way to the coast, we’re dog friendly, as well as every great pub should be, with a large garden, children’s play area and plenty of parking, ideal for those long summer days. And during the darker and colder winter months our roaring log fires, flagstone floors and oak beams really do come into their own.
Opening Times
Temporarily closed due to current Government Covid-19 legislation

“It seemed a place where heroes could fitly feast after victory, where weary harvesters could line up in scores along the table and keep their Harvest Home with mirth and song, or where two or three friends of simple tastes could sit about as they pleased and eat and drink and talk in comfort and contentment.”
